The effects of intravenous aminophylline upon the coronary blood-oxygen exchange.

چکیده
The effects of intravenous injections of aminophylline on the coronary blood flow, cardiac oxygeni consumption, cardiac work, and cardiac rate were studied by catheterization of the right ventricle and coronary sinus in anesthetized dogs. There was no substantial increase in coronary flow when cardiac activity increased following injection of the drug; this suggested that the oxygenation of the myocardium in general was not improved. Further studies on coronary blood-oxygen saturations substantiated this concept as pertaining to the infarcted heart of dogs as well as the normal. Nitroglycerin however increased general my-ocardial oxygenation in normal hearts.

متن کاملThe efficacy of prophylactic intravenous aminophylline, paracetamol or aminophylline and paracetamol in prevention of post spinal headache in lower extremity surgeries compared to the control group
Background: Post-dural puncture headache (PDPH) is commonly seen after neuraxial block and it usually lasts for up to two days or in some cases for up to two weeks. Several types of regimens have been suggested for treatment, such as theophylline and caffeine. This study aimed to evaluate the effects of aminophylline, paracetamol, and administration of aminophylline and paracetamol concurrently...
متن کاملGas exchange response to intravenous aminophylline in patients with a severe exacerbation of asthma.
In patients with acute exacerbations of asthma, the intravenous administration of bronchodilators, such as salbutamol, entails the potential risk of worsening pulmonary gas exchange, despite an amelioration of airflow obstruction. The present study was designed to investigate the effect of intravenous aminophylline on pulmonary gas exchange in patients hospitalized with a severe exacerbation of...
متن کاملRole of adenosine in pathogenesis of anginal pain.
The intravenous infusion of adenosine provokes anginalike chest pain. To establish its origin, an intracoronary infusion of increasing adenosine concentrations was given in 22 patients with stable angina pectoris. During adenosine infusion, 20 patients had chest pain without electrocardiographic signs of ischemia. They all reported that the chest pain was similar to their usual anginal pain. In...
متن کاملInhibition of Coronary Vasodilating Action of Dipyridamole and Adenosine by Aminophylline in the Dog
Experiments were performed to determine (1) whether intravenously administered aminophylline inhibits the coronary vasodilating effects of intravenous or intracoronary administration of dipyridamole or adenosine and (2) whether aminophylline locally administered in the coronary artery inhibits the vasodilating action of adenosine given intravenously or injected into the coronary artery. Coronar...
